The awards committee invites your participation in the inaugural
international Architecture+ Cityscape Awards, intended to be one of the most
prestigious accolades for Architects and students globally.
The awards will be announced over a spectacular gala dinner and ceremony on
October 18, 2003 in Dubai, the commercial capital of the United Arab Emirates.
They will seek to honour architects and students who have designed projects that
successfully address issues pertinent to the urban future of the Gulf States,
Middle East, Asia, Africa and the Indian Sub Continent.
A Jury of internationally acclaimed and recognised architects from some of
the world's most powerful architectural bodies will convene and select the
winners of Architecture+ Cityscape– "Design for a New World" Awards
2003.
They include:
- Dr Suha Özkan B.Arch. M.Arch. AADipl. Hons. PhD. Secretary General to the
Aga Khan Foundation, Switzerland
- George Ferguson PRIBA BA Barch RWA, President of the Royal Institute of
British Architects and Chairman of Acanthus Ferguson Mann Architects
- Professor William Alsop OBE RA, Architect, Alsop Architects, UK

The theme for the 2003 awards is "Design for a New World". There
will be seven categories:
1. Offices, Retail and Commercial
2. Housing And Residential Developments
3. Public, Arts and Culture
4. Preservation and Conservation
5. Urban Design
6. Aspiring Architect (students)
7. Lifetime Achievement Award
Each submission will not be judged in competition with each other, but rather
by measuring the architect's performance against the design brief; ordinary
programme or modest budgets can merit the award based on the architect's skill
in optimising the design opportunity.
All entrants must register through the on-line entry form http://www.cityscape-online.com/awards
by 30th June. All submissions must be received by 31st July. The short listed
finalists will be notified in August.
